Marius Degustare – A funky, elegant restaurant in the Marvelous city
Brazil is famous for its churrascarias; all-you-can-eat restaurants where waiters bring skewered meats directly to your table. While most of the churrascarias I visited during my trip were absolutely amazing, one, in particular, left a lasting impression. This Surprise Spot in Rio de Janeiro isn’t just about the food. It’s an entire different experience of its own.

What to expect
Located in the tourist center of Copacabana, the restaurant is easily accessible to anyone visiting Rio de Janeiro. Upon arrival, the staff asks where you’re from and places your country’s flag on your table. A small touch, but it instantly sparks fun conversations and friendly flag-guessing games throughout the evening.
If you’re familiar with churrascarias, you know that aside from the meats, there’s typically also a buffet. Personally, I prefer seafood and fish over red meat, and I was thrilled to find a generous selection that included delicious seafood stews, and perfectly cooked fish.
The interior design is something else. Every corner has a story, from sculptures made of designer handbags to old telephones hanging on the bathroom walls. It’s funky, stylish, and full of surprises.

Is it worth it?
Let’s be clear: this restaurant isn’t cheap. Prices are significantly higher than your average churrascaria, and drinks are not included in the buffet price. But as I mentioned earlier, a visit to Marius Degustare isn’t just a dinner. It’s a dinner party with a truly unique atmosphere.
You’ll be surrounded by cheerful guests from all over the world, and when one of the tables tips generously, the staff rings a bell, adding to the lively vibe. It’s a fun, festive setting that’s bound to stay in your memory for years.
Despite the higher price tag, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to this one-of-a-kind restaurant for anyone visiting Rio de Janeiro.
